When the Sunfire Castle battle starts, text chat isn't fast enough. We run live Discord voice during every castle battle. Here's how it works and what role you might play.
Castle battles are decided in seconds. A rally that lands a second late, a swap that nobody called, a counter-rally that opens too early — these are the differences between winning and losing the castle. Voice coordination closes that gap. When it's working well, it feels like a machine. When it isn't, it shows.
We've put in the work to make it feel like the former.
Everyone on voice has a job. Here's how it breaks down:
The decision-makers during the battle. They time rallies at the castle, coordinate with each other to hit perfect windows, and call counter-rallies the moment the enemy hits. Goal: keep our state in the castle and minimize the opponent's time there.
The rally fillers — making sure every march going to the castle has the right troops in the right order. We fill by priority: Helios first, then FC5 down to FC1. FC4 and FC5 troops take precedence for castle rallies. At the 5-second swap window, the garrison needs to be clear — Rally Managers and Rally Leaders coordinate this timing carefully.
The bridge between Discord voice and alliance chat. Not everyone is on voice — the Comms Team makes sure calls reach everyone in real time, in both directions. They relay what the leaders say and flag what's happening in chat.
Eyes on the enemy. Overwatch is on voice throughout, watching for enemy rally launches, counting down counter-rally windows, and reading the opponent's strategy. When something unexpected happens, Overwatch calls it first.
Two simple rules that make voice ops run smoothly:
Voice ops is open to anyone who wants to contribute beyond just filling rallies. If you're interested in taking a role — whether that's Overwatch, Comms, or working toward a Rally Leader spot — talk to your R4 or R5. We develop people. That's the point.
